If Z is the equivalent series impedance then,   Z  =  Z 1 + Z 2
Z =    Ω I =   V Z  =     Amp V 1  =     Volt V 2  =     Volt
Verify that    V =  V 1 + V 2

If there are many impedances Z1, Z2, Z3 ....... Zn connected in series and Z is the equivalent impedance, then


Z  =  Z 1  +  Z 2  +    ....    +  Z n

If V1, V2, V3 ....... Vn are voltage drops across the impedances, then


V  =  V 1  +  V 2  +    ....    +  V n
